Bea Gaddy is a Baltimore legend know as a leading advocate for the poor and homeless helping to feed countless people.

In the 1970s Bea Gaddy join the East Baltimore children’s fund offering to use her home as a distribution center for food and clothes for the poor. In 1981 she found the Patterson Park emergency food center which was the beginning of her legendary journey.

The Bea Gaddy’s thanks for giving campaign has become a tradition in Baltimore with the help of hundred of volunteer serving over 3,000 meals on site and delivering 50,000 more to people who cannot travel.

The Bea Gaddy food center also collected toys that she distribute to the kids for Christmas and hundred of shoes for winter. In 1990 she started a furniture Bank and a program to help renovate abandoned row homes for needy families.

Mrs. Gaddy also became a minister so she could could perform marriage and burial ceremonies for the poor free of charge she was also elected to the Baltimore City council in 1999.

Today marks the 37 annual Bea Gaddy thanks for giving campaign even after her death on October 3 2001at the age of 68 her work and her legacy lives on carried on bye Bea Gaddy family center inc. and her daughter Cynthia Brooks.

Bea Gaddy believe in helping others and will always be a Baltimore hero. Also know as the mother Teresa of Baltimore Bea Gaddy will always be a Baltimore legend.
